Narrative Writing by Tamia Martin

Here is a narrative piece that I wrote in class. I also designed the end image. Enjoy!

Early in the morning, all the pumpkin in St. Peterbooger wake up. They roll and roll and roll around to greet their friends.

Plumpy the pumpkin lives in the most beautiful pumpkin patch in St. Peterbooger. “I wonder what to do today?” wondered Plumpy aloud to herself. Plumpy had an idea. She was going to play hide and seek with her friend Vern the vine.

Vern the vine is Plumpy’s friend and neighbor. She is very delicate, twisty, long and has small leaves. She loves her friend but is scared to play hide and seek. When Plumpy asked Vern to play hide and seek, Vern replied “I’m sorry Plumpy. I cannot play with you today.”

Plumpy was sad. She did not know why her friend did not want to play. Then, Daisy dove flew down to meet her friends. She sat that Plumpy was sad. “What’s wrong Plumpy?” she asked. Plumpy told her that Vern did not want to play hide and seek. Daisy asked Vern why she did not want to play with Plumpy anymore. “I’m too delicate. I’m afraid one day my vine will break.” Vern cried softly. Daisy told both friends that there is nothing to worry about because one day, Vern will grow big and strong. Vern was happy because now, she could play with her friend.

In the end, everyone was happy. Vern’s leaves and vines grew strong, thick and large. She became brave and played with her friend plumpy every day.

  2. I really enjoyed reading your narrative! I love how you brought the pumpkin patch to life with characters like Plumpy, Vern, and Daisy. Your story was fun, imaginative, and full of heart, especially the way you showed friendship and overcoming fears. I also liked how you included details about Vern’s delicate vines and how she grew stronger by the end, it made the story feel complete and satisfying. Great job on both the story and the end image!
