Narrative Piece by Tiana Weekes
My
Twist, My Power
My
hair holds power. I stood in front of the mirror and smiled at my reflection.
My hair was neatly pulled back, smooth and shiny, with each twist in my
ponytail holding a little piece of my story. It wasn’t just a hairstyle it was
a crown I created myself. Every loop and bubble in my ponytail showed patience,
pride, and care. When the light hit just right, it sparkled like the morning
sun, reminding me that beauty isn’t about being perfect it’s about being proud
of who you are.
As I
walked outside, the breeze gently tugged at my ponytail, making it sway and
bounce behind me. I felt strong, confident, and happy like my hair and I were
walking in rhythm together. My twist, my curl, and my sparkle all told the same
story: that I am bold, beautiful, and ready to shine in my own way.
When
I walked into school, my friends noticed my hairstyle right away. They said it
looked neat and elegant, but what made me smile most was how it made me feel
inside. My twist wasn’t just about style it showed my effort, patience, and
pride in taking care of myself. Each loop held a piece of confidence, and as I
moved through the day, I felt unstoppable. My hair didn’t just sit on my head;
it spoke for me, whispering, “I am proud. I am strong. I am me.”

Wonderful narrative. This inspires great feelings and greater urge to write!

DeleteI really enjoyed reading your piece! I love how you described your hair as a symbol of confidence, pride, and self-expression. Your use of imagery, like “each twist in my ponytail holding a little piece of my story” and “it sparkled like the morning sun,” made your writing vivid and engaging. I also liked how you connected your hairstyle to how it made you feel strong, proud, and unstoppable. Beautifully written and very empowering!
