Descriptive Writing

Good night Growing Writers 🤭, I would love to share with you my descriptive piece that I wrote in class this year.

Magical Curls and Bright Brown Eyes

Every morning, I look in the gold mirror and smiled at my beautiful curls. They twist and bounce like tiny springs and each one tells a story. They are like a crown on my head. My brown eyes sparkle when the sunlight hits them. They look help me see all the little wonders and even my friends laughing at recess. People say eyes are windows to the soul. I think mine show how curious and kind I am.

One day at school, teacher asked us to draw a self portrait. I felt excited at first but then a little nervous. What if I could not draw my curls the right way? What if no one saw the magic I see in myself? Still, I picked up my crayons and started. I drew each curl in careful loops and added bright spots to my eyes to show how they shine. I worked slowly, making sure I showed the real me. When I was done, I held my breath as I showed it to the class.

To my surprise, everyone clapped. "You have captured your magic!" my teacher said with a warm smile. That day, I learned something important: being yourself is the most beautiful thing of all. My magical curls and bright brown eyes are not just features, they are a part of what makes me, me. That is something to be proud of.
