Writing Using Descriptive Words

 Hello, Growing Writers!🌟

Heyyyyyy, my name is Tiana Weekes ❤️.

This week, let’s practice using descriptive words to make our writing come alive. Think about your weekend what did you see, hear, smell, taste, or feel? Write three to five sentences describing your weekend. Try to paint a picture with your words so your readers can imagine being there with you!

  1. Hey Tiana! My weekend was quite long but enjoyable. I built a diorama with my father on a smooth, flat, large white surface. This item was tall with rectangles, long lines and small spaces. We also used an adhesive which was hot, gooey and sticky! Then, I attended an event with sweet beverages and loud music. I wore a black sparkly dress that had diamonds all over that glittered in the light. Everyone was dressed beautifully too! On another day, I went on a date! I dressed in a burgundy tank top with a pink mini skirt adorned with flowers. My shoes and bag were burgundy too! I wore gold flower jewelry that matched the buckle of my bag. I felt like the most beautiful princess ever. My weekend was amazing!

You built a detailed diorama with your dad using hot glue, attended a lively event with music and sweet drinks while wearing a sparkling black dress, and went on a lovely date dressed in a pink and burgundy floral outfit with gold accessories feeling like a true princess.

  2. On the weekend, I relax and spend time with my family. I hear laughter and soft music and smell the delicious food cooking in the kitchen. We taste sweet snacks and enjoy each other’s company. It feels warm, peaceful, and happy. 😃

  3. Last weekend was full of color and flavor. I enjoyed the rich, spicy aroma of Indian food that filled the air as I ate. On Sunday, I cooked creamy, cheesy pasta that tasted warm and comforting. I also spent a quiet, happy afternoon with my mother, talking and laughing together. Later, we relaxed on the couch and watched an exciting movie that made the evening feel cozy and calm.

  4. I was very tired last weekend because I had several difficult assignments to complete. Nevertheless, I was persistent and got them all done. On Sunday, I went to church and participated in singing the lovely hymns chosen by the song leaders for the praise and worship segment. After church, I went to my mother’s house to enjoy the delicious lunch she prepared for us. Later that evening, I took on the long task of ironing my school clothes, feeling the heat from the hot iron as I ironed.
