🌟Word Walls🌟

Hello everyone ! It’s Nishel! Today, I’m sharing a strategy called word walls that can really help students learn and remember new vocabulary. Word walls make important words easy to see and use, and they can make reading and writing more fun and interactive.

A word wall is an effective strategy to support vocabulary development and reading comprehension in the classroom. By displaying key words, terms, or phrases on a visible wall, students are given constant exposure to important vocabulary that they can reference during writing and reading activities. Word walls can be organized alphabetically, by topic, or by theme, making it easier for students to find and use words independently. This strategy not only reinforces spelling and word recognition but also encourages students to incorporate new words into their own writing, promoting language growth. Additionally, word walls can be interactive, with students adding new words, creating sentences, or highlighting synonyms and antonyms, which fosters engagement and a sense of ownership over their learning (Coomber, Peet, & Smith, 1998).
