Why Writing is Important for Primary Students.

Hello! I am Tamia or Teacher Tuesday, and I will be reflecting on why writing is important for primary students.

Above I have posted the writing process and the link from which it was sourced. As we all know, reading and writing are two of the most important aspects of receiving and relaying information. Both of which go hand in hand. However, my job today is to share "Why writing is important for primary students".
When the term 'writing' is mentioned, we automatically think essays. This is not entirely true. As seen in step 4 of the writing process: editing, the term capitalization is mentioned. If students cannot make proper letter shapes, their writing would not be easily comprehended. Therefore, writing extends beyond essays and encourages penmanship.
Now, I must make mention of the cause. Writing is important for primary students as it allows them to explicitly create a world where their imagination can come to life. After learning the basic methods of strokes and circles to make letters, students then learn simple sentences and move to more complex ones as they get older. These simple tasks help children at the primary level to express themselves in a way verbal expression may not be enough. Writing is important for primary students as it gives them the opportunity to create a writing profile that equips them for real world experiences such as making simple to do lists, creating a resume or writing an invitation to a friend.
To conclude, writing for primary students develops their relaying of information skills, penmanship and equip them for the real world. This aspect if important in the early stages of life as it helps to promote literacy. Once students can use the writing process to complete simple tasks, they are already on their way to being proficient writers.
