Dear Jamaica

During our session today, we learned about different types of poems. Teacher Tiana, Teacher Charlyn, Teacher Nishel and I thought it would be most fitting to use what we've learnt and put ideas together to create an acrostic poem. I hope that whoever reads this poem is touched by what we have written, and we encourage you to share your thoughts and prayers for our fellow Caribbean island, Jamaica as they are experiencing this devastating natural disaster called hurricane Melissa.

Dear Jamaica,

Hold the faith just a little longer,
Universal shifts are about to happen.
Right now it may be scary and hard to grasp,
Reality in this moment.
Image the time before now,
Calm yourselves down.
At a moment's notice the sun will return,
Nurturing your land like a mother to her newborn.
Everything will be okay; the world holds you in their prayers.
